W.V.'s Early MinistryRev. Grant pastored Soul's Harbor in Toledo, Ohio from 1972-73, located at 515 Main Street. This, his first church, grew powerfully during the 2 full years he was there. Misty was born there, but soon the Lord began to lead him towards the evangelistic and mission field. He resigned and began traveling. However, soon, he felt the Lord definitely speaking to him to found and establish a church, Cathedral of Compassion, in Cincinnati. It was here, for nearly 10 years, the ministry grew like wildfire. After first establishing the church at 15th and Race Streets in downtown Cincinnati, television doors began to open, and after three years the church was moved to 4800 Vine Street in the St. Bernard section of Cincinnati-a virtual television production studio. For 7 more years he pastored there, ministering in a capacity-full "Miracle Rally" every Saturday evening and maintaining a full evangelistic revival schedule, ministering nearly 300 nights per year during that time. The ministry grew in stature and in reputation, and soon he was on television in over 100 cities each week. The "Gifts of Healing" that God has entrusted him with opened doors that no mortal man could open. Scores of newspapers from "The Atlanta Constitution", to "The Providence Journal" featured his ministry and crusades on their front page headlines (see our "World of Knowledge" hyperlink for his "Life Story" book). He never thought, after the rapid and tremendous growth of his ministry in Cincinnati, a predominantly-Catholic city, that God would ever lead him to leave. However, God had other plans, when he called his famous father, Rev. W. V. Grant, Sr. on to heaven‹and not wanting what his father had worked for all of his life to die, he left and re-established his ministry in his former hometown of Dallas. W.V.'s MinistryAs of this writing, his television program has gone into hundreds of cities nationwide such as New York, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles, and has been on satellite daily, as well as on dozens of daily radio programs. His magazine, "Compassion" goes into thousands of homes, free-of-charge, bi-monthly.He has pastored in Dallas for 17 years, and built much for the kingdom of God. However, he has never shied away going where he is called, even when it has not been popular to do so. In l987 he bought 28 acres of property and built a huge complex, "Eagle's Nest Family Church," where he pastored until Easter of 1996. The church seated 5000 people, plus had an on-going day-care, K-12 Christian School, and large youth program. It was hard for the carnal mind to comprehend, when, in 1996 even though the complex was completely paid for, Rev. Grant announced that the Lord was leading him (because of God's powerful mandate on him to minister to helpless and homeless in downtown Dallas) that he was leaving it all, and moving as close to downtown as possible. That complex is now "The Potter's House" and is a thriving nation-wide ministry under Bishop T. D. Jakes. The Word says, "One man planteth, another man watereth, and God giveth the increase". But, to the amazement of hundreds who thought he would retire there, he left lock, stock and barrel. Rev. Grant's favorite saying is, "Never Get Caught Where God Used to Be." If God says, "leave," remember Lot's wife. Don't look back. Paul said, "Looking forward to the author and the finisher of our faith." For the Believer, God never closes one door without opening a bigger one. Unlike his father before him, W. V. Grant sings, having recorded 25 long-play albums, backed up by some of the nation's most noted symphony orchestras and musicians. Thousands are blessed, even healed, as they listen to his "anointed" singing. His vocal cassette's and C. D.'s are available, as are his 52 books, and his father's books. Fifteen years ago, God led Reverend Grant into a new ministry which has become one his best-received, leading him to produce hundreds of teaching tape cassettes, on various subjects such as "How to Receive Your Miracle," "Fasting-God's Biblical Dynamite," "Activating Angels," and "How to Be Led By the Spirit," which have literally blessed hundreds of thousands around the world. His "Compassion Bible Institute" Home Study Bible Course has been taken by over a million students, and features 4 different Bible Studies (each lasting one year) with increasing levels of study Having ministered in every state in the nation for 28 years, in gigantic area-wide revival crusades, Rev. Grant currently ministers in 4 miracle services most every week (Sunday mornings, and Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings) at the church he pastors, "Eagle's Nest Cathedral" on the edge of downtown Dallas. He and his wife host their "Annual Holy Land Pilgrimage" each November, (this coming November will mark their 20th Tour, baptizing people in the Jordan River, taking communion at Jesus' tomb, etc.), and go to Haiti and Mexico annually to oversee their on-going missionary endeavors there. Another highlight of their ministry is the annual "Compassion Explosion" Convention held in Dallas for 10 days, beginning on the first Friday of each June, with noted guest speakers from around the world. |
